Jim Carlisle started his career in corporate law doing internaltional and domestic mergers and aquisitions. He was getting called into complicated deals where he was drafting agreements, LOIs and doing due diligence.
After doing this for a few years, Jim realized that most times after the transaction was complete the seller was not very happy, and even in some cases, really upset. This was because the seller often didnt get what they wanted financially when the deal was complete and they ofter had lots of stipulations that made them stay onboard for a while or banned them from working in their industry every again… even when it was their ownly way to make money.
Jim decided to build his practice doing growth and exit planning so he could help owners BEFORE they wanted to pull the trigger on an exit.

Jim Carlisle has practiced law since 1991 and handled hundreds of merger and acquisition transactions. Jim is a partner at a national law firm with over 700 lawyers and serves as the Chair of the Growth and Exit Planning group for his firm. He is an in-demand speaker who’s been entrepreneurial-minded his entire career—in addition to GEXP, he’s been active in owning, operating, and exiting various businesses and real estate development ventures.

Jason is an Associate at Dinsmore with a primary focus on business owners where he develops unique solutions for life and retirement goals through estate and tax planning. He has counseled business owners in all phases of the business cycle from inception through retirement, and he has advised clients through different milestones, including family succession and sale. Previously he worked at Waldron Private Wealth, where he managed complex estate and tax issues for privately wealthy individuals and business owners as well as a regulatory compliance officer at PNC Bank. He also aided the chief compliance officer.
